Our recent trip for Spring Break resulted in over 2,000 photos so, I am going to break the blog posts down by country and hopefully that will help.
A. Germany, we left on Good Friday and it was indeed good. Beautiful sunshine beamed on the autobahn as we headed to our first stop of Regensberg, another historic and pretty city-the capital of eastern Bavaria, located along the Danube River. We enjoyed a quick lunch and did a mini-walk of the downtown area to get a feel for the city.

We learned that this city had escaped much destruction during wartime. In it's medieval heyday the merchants were among the most prosperous in Europe and it has a very impressive Gothic cathedral. Regensburg's labyrinth of streets and alleyways are lined with houses that as are as much German as they are Italian style. Like their counterparts in various Italian towns, the city's leading families built towers in competition with each other. There is also the Old Stone Bridge over the Danube, erected in the 12th century and for 800 years the only river crossing in the area.
Since we were not far from Italy it was easy see the Italian influence as compared to other German cities we have visited. We decided to jump right into the Italian mode and have pizza for lunch at a hip restaurant, naturally Gelato followed for dessert and we were back on the road heading to our destination of Innsbruck, Austria.
